Scope Reallignment; Simula: Solus hits development.
TL;DR: Dweebscape Simula is dead. Long Live Simula: Solus.
As I plan on making a more intentful, and story based update, this game may change from an arena battler, to a more comprehensible RPG...
I felt the name change from Dweebscape Simula to Simula: Solus was needed. I plan on reworking things I've found that didn't match this project's vision.
Unfortunately, this does mean that while there may be older versions of the game, I'm going to say that Dweebscape Simula is officially dead. At least, the Arena RPG style is. I feel like the enemies I've designed are best fit as it's own story, and own game.
Q&A Section
Will the new code system return? No. I have no plans on having the game require codes for secret content.
Will there be returning playable characters? I originally planned to include two party members, and one primary character. Honestly, I think I might have them return as party members, but there will be a major overhaul of the game's mechanics. So, they might be VERY different from DS to Solus.
Will the easter egg events (Indigo Park, Planet Clue, and EBF5) be in Solus? So, the overall idea is that *yes* there will be easter eggs to the previously included, but I plan on reworking all three. The Nolegs/God fight was overtuned or undertuned based on my playtesters, The indigo park one was just 'Here's a link and an accessory!' so, that felt lame. And, the Kaykay Glasses item was far too hard to find, and wasn't implemented until 1.0.3. I feel like revising all three of the easter eggs would be for the best, as well as adding new ones.
ARG? Simply put, I think that while my original idea for this game to have an ARG in it was a novel and interesting concept, I think I'm going to not make one. Less intensive on my overall intent and vision for this game, and makes development more streamlined. While this is the case, I apologize for anyone looking forward to it; but I gotta admit my own flaws. It was overambitious, and lead to me being burnt out while developing the game.
Will there be new playable characters? Potentially! I do plan on making them a bit more balanced, and having the main character start at a lower level, with a bit more balanced early game gear. so having more party members will be something I look at.
Will it remain Donoware? Yes. You can play this game straight up for free without giving me a cent, or if you like the game enough to give me a tip, then by all means toss a couple bucks my way.
